Momelie's Musings

I'm a full time college student, wife and mom. I love the internet, and I like to write. I collect glass, gray hairs and paperback books. I think a sense of humor is life's greatest asset, but being a good cook helps, too.

I'm really here!!!!

Well, today I really feel like I'm here, living in a dream.

Of course, the reality is that my luggage is still AWOL, and my apartment doesn't have air conditioning. The good news is that my luggage might have been located and might arrive in Pisa tonight, for delivery tomorrow. I would love to be reunited with my shoes and undies!

We had an orientation today, along with a safety lecture from a local polizio, who was extremely good. However, since the thrust of his lecture was for the guys not to get drunk and get in a fight, or for the girls not to get drunk and get messed with in other ways. Since I'm hardly likely to dance the night away in a local nightclub, or come to the attention of a local lothario, I let the jet lag take me away!

IF my luggage gets here tomorrow, we might go to Pompeii for the weekend. Big IF.

We had dinner tonight (me, Vanessa and Liana) at the trattoria down the street. We had pecorino cheese with honey, classica insalate, and I had mozzerella filled gnocci with a tomato sauce. Liana had a cheese and spinach ravioli. We sat there and enjoyed the evening and the atmosphere - under a Tuscan sunset, watching the crowds go by.

Afterward we went to a little mom and pop store and bought some stuff. I've been having proscuitto and cheese sandwiches for breakfast, and I bought some Italian mayonnaise. It will be interesting to try tomorrow morning.

Bottom line, I'm having a blast and living a dream. Tomorrow I have my first art history class in a museum. Can't wait!
